Development
Personal Flexibility is a practice-oriented personality questionnaire that originates from a longitudinal study among outplacement candidates. That study examined which personality factors influence the chance of success.

Six personality characteristics are important:

  • Change orientation
Being able to adapt to new circumstances and changes. Experiencing change and variety as a challenge.
  • Social initiative
The ease with which one establishes and maintains contacts. It has been shown that people cope better with the stress that change can bring when they have social support. This factor is important for personal flexibility. Social support can also be important for obtaining information from others.
  • Energy level
Feeling able to take on large amounts of work. Some changes require a lot of work and effort, which can make energy level important.
  • Self-confidence
Whether someone has confidence in their own abilities and believes they are capable of bringing most tasks to a successful conclusion.
  • Control over one’s own situation
Having the feeling that one can influence one’s own life.
  • Emotional resilience
Being able to deal with changes, disappointments and setbacks without being thrown off course too much.
All of these scales are combined into a single score for Personal Flexibility.
