Leadership Scan

The Leadership Scan provides insight into leadership competencies, leadership styles, strengths and pitfalls. The scan can be used in selection procedures to give insight into leadership qualities. The candidate can also use the insights to (further) develop themselves as a leader, which makes the assessment suitable for advice as well.

The assessment consists of the following combination of tests:

  • Work-related Personality
The Work-related Personality is a validated and reliable questionnaire that provides a personality profile based on a comparison of the scores obtained on the personality factors and scales with the norm group.
  • Career Drives
The valid and reliable Career Drives questionnaire provides insight into drives or motivators at work.

Development of the Leadership Scan
The theoretical starting point of the scan is the Full Range Leadership Model by Bass & Avolio (1997). This new version of the Leadership Profile is based on an extensive analysis of 846 administrations. Both the choice of this model and the analysis are explained in our manual. This model states that there are three types of leadership styles: Transformational, Transactional and Interventionist leadership.

In addition, this assessment makes a distinction within Transformational leadership, namely: Pioneer and Catalyst. These sub-styles provide deep insight into the most effective Transformational leadership style. The Leadership Scan indicates the extent to which the candidate matches each of these leadership styles. It also indicates the extent to which there is an aptitude for the associated competencies. The candidate’s match and aptitude for competencies are determined on the basis of their personality and drives.

Application
The Leadership Scan has been developed for both selection situations and advisory situations, to provide insight into the candidate’s leadership qualities, pitfalls and leadership style. The candidate can also use the insights to (further) develop themselves as a leader, which makes the assessment suitable for advice as well.
